Summary of statistics for annual list of binaca geetmala 1970
There was a total of 33 songs in this year's annual list. The music for these thirty three songs was composed by seven different music directors (last year ten music directors made it to the annual list). Laxmikant Pyarelal was on the top this year also and composed the music for 10 songs, followed closely by S. D. Burman with 8 songs. Kalyanji Anandji with 6 songs, Shankar Jaikishan with 5 songs, and Ravi with 2 songs followed in that order. Sonim - Omi, and Naushad composed the music of one song each.
Nine different lyricist made it to final annual list as compared to thirteen different lyricist last year. Anand Bakshi was again on the top with 14 songs to his credit. Neeraj who have just one song last year, had written lyrics of five songs this year. Rajinder Krishan with 4 songs, Varma Malik with 3 songs, Majrooh sulatanpuri with 2 songs followed. Three lyricists, namely, Hasrat Jaipuri, Qamar Jalalabadi, and Sahir Ludhianvi had written the lyrics of one song each.
Amongst singers, Lata Mangeshkar was on top again with total of 15 songs (4 solo and 11 duets). Mohammed Rafi sung a total of 12 songs, out of which 5 were solo and 7 duet songs. Kishore Kumar sung a total of 9 songs, out of which 6 were solo and 3 duet songs. Other singers were Mahendra Kapoor with 4 songs (2 solo, 2 duets), Mukesh with 3 songs (1 solo, 2 duets), Suman Kalyanpur with 2 songs (both duets), Asha Bhosle, Manna Dey, Sharda with 1 song each, who features in the above list of 33 songs.
Further, there were a total of four films, which had more than one songs each in the annual list. These films were "Aradhana" with 3 songs (there were 2 songs from "Aradhana" in last year annual list), "Prem Pujari" with 3 songs, "Do Raaste" with 2 songs, and "Mera Naam Joker" with 2 songs. Then there were 23 other films having one song each being featured in annual list of binaca geetmala, 1970.
